For most of my life the church life that my parents have experienced with the local church has not been my reality. My parents started meeting with the local church in the Boston area in 1974. I was born a few years later and have been meeting with the local church where I live ever since. I just went along with them and went to meetings with them. Yet my realization about going to these meetings was still that I was “going to church”. Though I grew up in a neighborhood surrounded by families that met with the local church, I had not yet seen that the Christian life was more than just going to church meetings one or two times per week.
However, in the past year the Lord has been merciful to show me that I need to build a personal relationship with Him. As a way to help build my relationship with the Lord I have seen that I need to enjoy Him together with all the members meeting with the local church in my city. The Lord is showing me what He has shown my parents, that the local church brings in the reality of the Christian life.
